I have never fished at Yuba before, but I'm planning a trip this January. I'm taking the camp trailer and staying at the Oasis or Painted rocks campground. Where is the best places to fish for the Pike? I have never fished for them before so I'm way excited.
I want to thank you all for making this site a great resource. I found this site last year and I'm on here all the time.
Oh, and any info on using an atv on the lake or in the camp grounds would be good to know. Thanks.

drive right on by and head to fish lake! Seriously, the pike fishing has tanked!!!!!!!!!!!! Even last year with all the hype on this forum, the majority of people who ice fished there got skunked. and it will be even tougher this year because the fishing really tanked even more. I'm sure we'll see a couple pulled from there on some pics and the hype monster will happen again. but the fishing peaked two years ago and they got hammered! now there just aren't many left and they are tough. But if you still want to brave it, I would go to the painted rocks side, maybe try by the island or the south shoreline in 15 feet of water. I love catching pike, I got the pike bug 4 years ago and went down there as often as I could and it was a blast. Now I won't waste my time with trying down there, just not enough fish to make it worth it like it use to be and it has turned into tiger musky fishing, which is pretty tough. If you catch a couple, I'd consider that very good fishing! But there are some bigguns still in there so you never know I guess. If you're looking to get into some action though and more than a couple fish, I'd head somewhere else.

That sucks to hear. I plan on going down to FL this winter also. Scofield is where I mostly go but the last 2 years have been rough. Thanks for the info. I may still go.
Funny Hype monster. I live in Price so Scofield is 40 min. drive. Before all the record tigers, fishing pressure was pretty low in the winter. It has increased 10 fold the last 2 years. I always have a good time, don't even have to catch anything if your with good friends.

Not sure how this year will be with the low water but last year we did well going to painted rock. We usually had better results from the west bank. Can't wait till it's frozen!

Don't know about other people, but I went up a dozen or so times and between 2 of us we would get into 4-8 fish per day. Not fast but always successful. Hit me up after freeze up and I'll give you some pointers on where and how or maybe you can just join us on the hard deck.

Thanks for the info HB and SD. I think I will make the trip. How thick does the ice get there? I know that snow fall can be a factor. What about using atv's on the ice? I don't have too, but I like too.
I will get with you later SD when the ice is on. Thanks again guys.

Ice gets plenty thick for ATVs and the snow depth is usually not an issue. The shoreline can be a little tricky getting on and off of the ice, with the water levels raising during the winter months.
