Got up this morning and asked my little one if she wanted to catch a few big fish or a lot of smaller fish. She opted for quantity instead of quality, so off to Tibble Fork we went.
Ice has started to form by the dam so we stayed on the opposite side. It was a bit windy this morning, but the fish were biting so we stayed until the incoming snow drove us off.
Caught about 28 fish in 3 hours and it was all I could do to keep my little one's pole baited. Had a great time!

Good job taking the little one out! I know I'm grateful for my parents doing so. I've always wanted to fish Tibble through the ice but you never know with the springs in there. I might have to give it a go on the pontoon though!

Not sure why the pictures didn't post but they are there now.

Nice report and great that you got your daughter out fishing.

How much of ice is wrapping around the dam? Does it wrap from the north too the to the south side about 50 or so yards out? Might have too make one more float trip because I go ice fishing up there.

]Your daughter looked happy fishing with dad. My five and six year old grand daughters love fishing with grandpa. Your photos with the fish on the wood were fantastic. Beautiful fish!
You couldn't ask for better scenery than Tibble Fork especially where you were by the trees. Your daughter made a good choice. "Fishing is the excuse to be out enjoying natures beauty."

Not much ice to speak of. Only near the dam area about 10-15 yards out x maybe 30-35 yards long and very thin.
Still lots of open water.[fishin]

Would like too see more ice because usually when that cove freezes up it's great fishing on the edges of it in a float tube. Thanks for info [

Great stuff! Tibble Fork is where my real love for fishing first took off several years ago. I remember knowing exactly one rig that was effective ever—hanging a worm under a clear bubble. I'd dig up earthworms from my back yard (still lived with my parents) and take the 20-minute drive up with my $12 shakespeare combo. That rod has to this day caught more rainbow trout than any other rod I've ever owned...
Didn't even know there were brookies in Tibble at all. Nice fish!

Brook trout arn't that common in Tibble fork but there's a few in there because they come from out of Pittsburgh or Silver Lake Flats.

Brook Trout???? I have never seen any out of Tibble. Anyone catch one?

I have by the inlet once in a blue moon. There's toss of brook trout when you fish the river a few miles above the reservoir.

Tibblefork is a fun destination. Last year I made a few runs up there. I haven't been up there this year at all.

How are the roads up to Tibble? I'd like to head up there but don't have four wheel drive.
Thanks,
Eric
