I went up to Bear Lake Friday to get some pictures of the marina and Ideal beach! Friday the Marina had one lane plowed partially and about 1-2 inches of patchy ice just outside the South bubblers. Ideal Beach was not plowed and about 18 inches of snow would not recommend travel even with chains untill plowed! Saturday the ice had spread out further in the marina and fishing was terrible from the mouth off the rocks. Sunday the furthest East bubbler was blowing under the ice and ice coverage has almost taken over the whole marina. 1-3 inches except right outside the bubblers. The where 4 bubblers going full speed on the Southern part, but nothing on the North side! I am not even sure there are any?? I did not see any boats or shore fisherman the whole weekend! The temps consistently were below freezing and there is lot's of snow!!! Sunday morning when I woke up it was 9 degrees on my thermometer!!!! See attached pic's of Ideal and State Marina!

The State Marina folks are doing a GREAT JOB to clear a path for us to launch, but good old Mother Nature is taking over control!!!!

Thanks for the report. The marina has iced up alot more since last week end when I drove around it. Hate to see it freeze up like that. But what can you do.
Thanks for taking the time to give us a report and the pictures Fish1on. I'm glad to hear that our phone calls to the state parks marina did some good and they are at least making an attempt to plow the ramp. If we can't launch our boats and there is no ice, I wonder how we are going to get our cisco this year? I hate the thought of using chest waders to get them but I guess, as a last resort I'll do what I got to do. WH2

The Cisco run is only 2-3 weeks away right? I'm VERY tempted to use a heavy bar and bust my way out and back. I need cisco badly for next year's bait. (Lord, help this urge ... [crazy])

I could be wrong but I think it is the 15th of the month, so the first Saturday near the 15th is January 17th.

I think that if someone was willing to put in a whole bunch of effort, the marina ice could be broken through. The launch ramp is no longer an issue as far as I am concerned. The only problem I have is this cold front that has come in, we may be too late?? The ice formes realy quick in that shallow area.

Guess I better start looking for some good waders so I can get some cisco too!! [Sad]
