Anyone go to Huntington this weekend? What are the conditions? Snow depth and ice? I am going out Monday and want to know if I can even get out there.
TIA

Ice is thick enough for a 4 wheeler since 2 weeks ago. Now probably a good 1'.

Read through the post just below this one. All the info is there. Good Luck

Well maybe not all the info. Huntington - Plenty of ice with snow on top. Those that fished it yesterday did not catch many. We fished Cleveland - it was pretty slow. Right now I would think E Lake would be the best - capped most recently. It is quite a hike down and particularly back up. I would forget the tent, power auger and all the equipment for that hike. I would pack just the essentials, hand auger, pole, scoop and basic terminal tackle. Have fun.

Thanks for the reply. I am more interested in the snow depth as my partner has a difficult time walking in very deep snow.

I heard there is about 16in of snow on the ice and I imagine this Storm will add a few more inches.

The snow on the ice is definitely a problem for those with difficulties - I had leg cramps all night after our trek across to the far shore at Cleveland. At Huntington, the snow was pretty well packed down the boat ramp from all the fishermen, so access onto the lake would not be to problematic. If you don't go too far out, it may not be too difficult. On the ice there is a slush layer - thankfully it is mostly frozen and not too bad. On top of that is 6-8 inches of snow. Looking outside right now, there may be more by morning. Cleveland was about the same except it was more difficult breaking trail down to the lake. We followed one group down but was pretty tough even so. By the time we came off, there was a pretty good trail - probably changed by now.
