Hello everyone! New to Utah and to BFT. I was wondering how easy it is to get to Scofield and Strawberry reservoirs without a 4WD vehicle. I'm coming from Springville. I know that right after a snow storm, it'll be a no go. But after a few days, could I get up to the reservoirs? Are the roads plowed or is it mostly snow packed? I know I won't be able to access most of the areas, but I'm just looking to be able get there and then trek out to go fishing.

You should have no problem getting to either lake. Both have major highways going to them that are cleared every storm. Depending on where you want to fish at the berry the access will determine where you fish. You can easily fish the marina area or soldier creek. Scofield is even easier to access.

I was at Scofield the day after Christmas and the road was okay. It was snowing a little on the way there but the plows had kept the road nice. Once I turned off highway 6 it was a little more snow on the road, but again very doable. I was in a truck but I never had to go to 4 wheel drive. The state park marina was snow packed, but even then as I was leaving they were plowing that along with the parking lot.

A lot of it depends on whether or not you put snow tires on your vehicle. I once watched a car slide from side to side driving from The Strawberry Marina to the highway. They were literally losing parts off of their vehicle as it slammed into the snow banks on both sides of the road, and they were maybe going 20 mph.

When driving to strawberry, once you turn off Highway 40 the road will be snow packed. They never scrape it down to the asphalt. You can make it in 2-wheel drive if you have good snow tires.

Thanks for the input! I'm going to head up to Scofield this weekend and try it out.
