My son and I went up to Currant Creek early this morning. We knew it was going to be chilly but when Kimball Junction read -28 on the Jeep readout I knew it was going to be VERY cold up in the hills. At the turnoff to Strawberry it was -31 and the dam at Currant Creek was -28 at 7 AM. As we walked across the lake our eyes were forming ice balls on our eyelashes. Once we got set up at the right depth (17ft) we caught some fish right away. The fishing started to slow down as lunch approached. In the afternoon it was very slow. We finally got cold in the shade (5 degrees at 2PM) and packed it up and came home. There were people out on Strawberry at Chicken Creek East, the wind was blowing and it was a balmy 10 degrees. So if you go out dress for the cold, its very chilly out there. PS The fish cicles we brought back are frozen solid and will have to thaw out to clean them.
