PVA Sets Grand National Championship Schedule

WASHINGTON, DC--The Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA) recently announced that the PVA Grand National Championship (GNC), a national championship bass fishing event for people with disabilities, will be held January 9-11 on Arizona's Lake Havasu.

The GNC will be similar in format to the BassMasters Classic, where anglers must earn their way to the event. With the help of the local PVA chapters and the state B.A.S.S. Federations across the nation, the top two disabled anglers from each of the six PVA National Bass Tour tournaments on the circuit this year, and the top 14 anglers from the "Angler of the Year" point standings list qualified for this championship event.

Plans call for a "cut tournament" format to be used. All anglers will compete on days one and two, and then the field will be narrowed. Only a limited number of anglers will be fishing on the third and final day, for the title of "Grand National Champion." That angler will earn a coveted spot in the 2004 Citgo B.A.S.S. Federation National Championship and win a Ranger 185 Boat with matching Ranger Trail Trailer, Mercury 150HP Motor and MinnKota Trolling Motor.
