With our wives out doing post Christmas shopping, Dr Phil and I hit the lake this AM for some crappie fishing. Foggy start, so we had to use the lake insight map on the graph to move around for about 2 hours or so until the sun burned the fog off. We fished mid-lake mostly and caught fish on docks and brush. We checked deep water off shore structures, but the fish were not on these structures today. With the lake being about 2 feet above what it was just before Christmas, the fish had moved toward the shallows. Most of our fish were caught in 8-10 feet of water or less. A few early on were even less than 10' deep.

Bobby Garland baby shads and slab slayers in ghastly minnow, patriot, outlaw special, glacier and full moon were the colors that produced for us today. We fished both 1/24 and 1/16 oz jig heads. I burned about 1/2 tank of gasoline in the Yamaha today so you could tell that we did quite a bit of running from spot to spot.

Dr Phil was dressed for the occasion today and didn't get cold or wet. emoBigSmile The tips of my fingers got cold early this morning with the freezing fog hitting us. But all in all, we had a great day for fishing. We had 23 keepers and about 15-20 shorts, plus 2 yellow bass and 1 small largemouth bass. I was pleased with our catch. We almost have enough for Dr Phil's fish fry now. One more trip will do it. emoBigSmile emoGeezer
