I know that the official Cisco Disco is scheduled for Jan 24th, but I was wondering if they have started to show up at all yet? It seems last year the run went from a week or more before the disco, with the height not coinciding with the festivities.

The fishing report posted by Darrin on fishingbearlake.com seemed to indicate that it could start as soon as this weekend.

Any update would be appreciated.

This weekend there may be a few early fish exploring the shoreline, but there won't be enough in to make it worth trying for them. The Cisco disco is set to coincide with the start of the peak of the Cisco run this year and it should be worth showing up for.
The first 49 people to register for the big Cisco contest have a shot at prizes and it costs nothing to register. Register at the entrance to Cisco beach. They will give you a paper to fill out and the first 49 people to fill out and return it to the entrance station will be entered in the contest.
After the Cisco disco in the morning, come over to the marina where admission is free and watch or participate in the polar plunge. It's cold, but there will be prizes for various things there too and this year there will be a chili cook off with free chili and substantial prizes for the 1-3rd place chili winners.

Typically the ciscos start coming in enough around the 20th to make it worth the drive, but with the lack of ice this year success will depend a lot upon the wind. The wind can make the visibility crappy in the water and the waves can really put a damper on the fishing so let's pray for calm winds!

Thanks for the information. With the weather projection I would doubt the lake will ice up between now and then. Last year we had a blast in open water, but the wind was never a factor.
