Got on the water by 730 this morning. Praying for an early bite which didnt happen.
Fish woke up at 0930 and kept us moving and watching rod tips till around 11 Am. Then it was a VERY slow pick..
Im not sure if its this moon phase but its slow here guys. Quality is still great as we had some nice fish..The weather was Outstanding but im worried about the warm temps..
Here's Wyatt with his 20 inch model

Be careful out there. They had a arc break through today.

What they didn't tell you on the news cast is that the person driving the atv drove over a pressure crack. That same area has a warm spring that feeds that same pressure crack. The ice is safe to fish on and probably safe enough for a atv, but the warm spring area and the pressure crack isn't. I don't know why you really need an atv out there anyway. In that same spot you can back right down to the lake and unload your gear right out onto the ice. I fished there sunday and it was very slow compared to the week before. I think it may be the full moon or moon phase we are going through. Hope it is better this sunday or I might head to fishlake if its too slow.

It is unfortunate that not everyone that gets on the ice understands the danger of pressure ridges. I have watched guys walk right on them (and fall through) without any realization of the dangers. Tough way to learn about them by going swimming in ice water.

So how deep is the water at this pressure ridge & spring & how far off shore was he? The rescuer stated he found a rock in the ice to brace against, which sounds fairly close to shore to me. I was surprised they could not retrieve the ATV.

I was wondering the same thing. I read somewhere that it was in about 10' of water. I'm surprised they couldn't somehow hook the atv and pull it out. I guess it's possible the ATV rolled downhill and out of reach.

My buddy and I went on Sunday and experienced very slow fishing as well, just off South Point.
Eventually, we moved to a different spot of that area and I started getting hits.
I found them shallow, such as 8ft or less. Had I hooked every bite, I may have caught 8 fish all day, but I ended up with three and a break-off.
Holdsworth didn't catch a fish until the sun was behind the hills, then he nabbed one.
All 20", ranging from 2lbs, 4oz to 3lbs, 6oz.
All fish were caught with Outlaw SnP tube jigs tipped with a small redside shiner.
Nothing else got hit, minus one tiny rub on an orange Shrimpo.

I heard the reason they won't let him get the atv out is that it was not safe to try and get it out. My father in-law knows the guys brother, and the guy does have insurance on the machine. I was surprised to hear they wouldn't let him retrieve it too, due to environmental reasons. That crack does extend from the shore out onto the ice quite a ways. As for the fishing, we were fishing in 3 to 8 feet of water. Fish closer to the shore for better fishing. There are 2 spawns on that lake. One on ice on and one in the spring. I haven't caught any of the big males yet, but last Sunday I did bring home two fish that weighed 3.25 pounds.
