Anyone been on the ice today? Will it hold me safely tomorrow (Saturday). I'd like to try it mid day tomorrow. Will I need a plank? Thanks J

Haven't been out myself today, but as of yesterday (Thursday), the ice was not good. I tried to look at hyrumdamcam.com today, but too much fog to see anything. The nights have been colder, so perhaps the conditions may work..I would have planks to be sure though... I'd also like to hear from anyone who went today?

Thanks so much for the info, my day sort of got away from me. Did get the sled out of the gaping mouth of hell though. Hope you did well. J

That's great news, I really appreciate your help. I feel bad I didn't get out there but it was a busy day. I don't get to go next week either I'm going to go into withdrawals. Thank you. J

Hmmmmm.... There's got to be good story behind how that snow machine got into the gaping jaws of hell.
I fished Hyrum this afternoon with my girls. We fished just out from the swim beach and a ways to the south. The ice was 5-6 inches everywhere we went. Good clear ice. The edges were soft in some places, but there were plenty of places you could get on without getting your feet wet. Take your cleats if you have them because it's super slick! Fishing was slow for us, but it was the middle of the afternoon.

Well, it was perfectly clear ice (very slippery), and 4" max at the places I drilled...lots of smaller perch today and few 'bows..just off beach access area, as I didnt want to walk around much on dicey ice! lol...the 'bows we did land were between 13-14"", and fairly fat. Fun day! Hope you can get out there soon! [cool]

Fishdude, if you came via the beach area, you likely saw our blue clam straight off shore! And what;s this about a snow machine??

Did you hear about the 13 year old that went into the sink hole New Year's Day? That was my nephew so we went and got it out today. He is mighty lucky to still be alive that is a terrible spot to run into.
I appreciate the fishing tips. That's where I like to get on the ice at. Sorry it was a little slow but that sure happens after the first week or so. Thanks for the info. J

Great report it sounds really fun. Nice to hear the perch are showing up. Thank you. J

Yeah I read all about that story about the sled in the sink hole. You guys are so lucky he was ok! Glad he was!

Thanks, he is a lucky boy, and we're sure glad he was okay. Glad someone was protecting him, he could have died so easy in that accident. I think he and his twin will be part of the catfish contest on here next summer, so we'll see more of those boys. Thanks. J

I wish I had the picture from down in the bottom of the hole. That is not a typical sink hole it's more like a verticle cave entrance. Appreciate your concern it sure is a miracle he survived it. Anyway I hope my next post is more fish story, I really wanted to try that trolling thing today. Thanks and catch Ya later. J
