This is a little late but thought I'd share the nice trip I had to the Berry (1/10/15). A friend and I decided Friday night to go down so I felt under prepared for the trip but was excited to go. We left Cache Valley at 4:00am and were on the lake fishing at 7:00. It was pretty slow for us in the early morning. I didnt mark anything on my flasher and I'll be honest, I was to cold and lazy to move around for the first two hours. My friend put a nice slot cutthroat on the ice first and I soon followed with another cutt. We were fishing 18 FOW until about 11:00. We decided to move in and we fished in 7.5-10 FOW. I started picking up a lot more fish and I worked my tail off to get them. I found that the fish were holding tight to the bottom and they seemed to respond to short jigging strokes. I started noting that around 12:30 I'd pick up one fish and then another shortly after. I'd get a spurt of 3 fish in about 20 minutes then it would get slow for about 30 minutes. It was a lot of fun working so hard for the fish, I like that type of challenge. We walked off the lake at 4:00 with some bows for dinner. It was a fantastic day. The fish hit chub meat and meal worms, like I said they were hugging the bottom. I'd pound the the bottom with a heavier jig and that seemed to get the fish interested.
