I've heard rumors they're in there, just not having tons of luck finding any. Does anyone have any info they're willing to share? PM's welcomed and appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I have not heard of any crappie in Echo. Just rainbows smallmouth bass, perch browns, and cut throat trout

I too have heard that there are Crappie in East Canyon, but not in Echo.
Have never tried to target them, but I am guessing they will be closer toward the dam. Look for topography where a ledge is likely to be close to a large drop off of 10 feet or more. The crappie would suspend just off the ledge in the winter.

have caught quite a few crappie at east canyonin past years. I think it was mostly luck though . was not targeting them by any means but did catch a few 11 + inchers. was in 44ft of water right by the dam.And I only caught them between 7pm and 1am. hope this kind of helps.

It's been a long time ago, but I caught a crappie right up next to the boat docks, and could see more in the water, at Echo. I also caught a few along the weeds under the truck pull out point.

That's good to hear! Truck pull outs on the east side close to the dam, or west side view area? Thinking of heading up there this weekend

The freeway trucker point view area, west side. There is a trail off of it. Be careful in that area. It always thaws early, and I think there are some warm springs, especially more to the right of the point as you walk down. It gets deep quick off the left side. We have caught some decent catfish in that area, through the ice. The crappie were in the summer, from a boat. I want to head to Pineview, way early, Saturday morning. Get there around 5 or so, and do some night fishing for a few hours before daylight. If you want crappie, they are so thick there, it creates false bottoms on the finder. If I go, it will be on the north side of Cemetery Point. So far, I can't find anyone that wants to get up that early. I live in Evanston, so that makes for early rising. I'm hoping I won't need a plank. Requires a second trip back up to the truck. If you're interested, you are more than welcome to meet me there.

Perchpile2-I was also thinking of pineview on sat but also have the urge to hit the gorge for pup's/burb's..........but have alway's wanted to fish for perch and gill's at a lake I have never fished.

You're posting on here, so I assume you know the burbot bash was cancelled for this coming Saturday. They basically said, "There is plenty of "good ice" in some locations, but a tournament will bring too many idiots. They don't want to have a repeat performance, on having to pull more dead fishermen back up through enlarged ice holes. In the winter I usually think of trout (at least the small slimers) as a necessary nuisance. I love to target the perch and crappie. Not because of the fight the offer, but because they are so dang good to eat! And it is kind of like hunting antelope. You are usually seeing a bunch of them.

I fished the north side of cemetery point on Monday with my son. Ice was good getting on and off plus it's cooled down some lately. Didn't have much success and didn't mark a ton of fish. Have seen reports that Browning point (north across the ice) was better for fish but maybe not the ice edges. Sounds like the fish are moving around but between the two spots you should be able to find them.
Happy catching!
Remember...they drained Echo almost dry about a year ago. I can't imagine that it will be much good for a year or two, maybe more. But that is just my opinion.
