Any been fishing on soldier creek lately? Headed there this weekend with some new guys that have never been on the ice. Anything would be helpful thanks. Are snowmobiles getting around ok?
Thanks

I was there a couple of weeks ago and snowmobiles were on the road just fine. They were also all over the lake more towards highway 40. There is a spot on the lake down more towards the dam that looks sketchy, but I have not checked it out. I would be careful going across the ice down towards the dam. But again, the road was nice.

Welcome to the site, like the other member stated that several weeks ago when the wife and I went down to see if she could fill her cow elk tag, we drove by on highway 40. The bay along 40 just before you turn off to the dam had alot of fisherman fishing it and I think there were several smowmobiles there as well. Could luck on your trip, let us know how you do, have a great day.[fishin]

I've been using my snowmobile on the SC side for several weeks now with no issues so you shouldn't have any problems. I've started by US 40 and went all the way down to the marina and the ice is plenty thick.

Good luck with the new guys. Hope you have a good time!

Not to highjack the thread but would anyone know how the narrows are? Sleds ok? Thanks.

Traveled the narrows on Wednesday from Strawberry to SC. I was on a wheeler. Sleds should be okay, but there is one pressure ridge that could present a problem on the SC side of the narrows between that little island around the first bend and where it opens up into SC. You can go around it on the south side with no problem.

I worked my way out past the pressure ridge and followed Brookie's tracks and beyond by a few hundred yards on Saturday evening. Stayed close to the shoreline just in case but found the ice was in good condition at 8" over 25 ft of water and building. Didn't want to be the first guy to trek across to the south side though. And the fishing was pretty slow (in line with most reports from Saturday). Finedesign and I caught 2 slot cutts a piece.
