I'm trying to put together a trip to Sulphur Creek next week end. Was wondering what the ice conditions are like. Edges? Never been there and wanted to give it a try. Thanks for the help.

Wyoming may be the only place to ice fish after this week, I see 60* temps on Thurs. and Fri......crazy!

Exactly. Part of my reasoning for wanting to go up there.

Sulfur has been extremely slow. A friend and I went out after work for a few hours. Nothing. Another friend went out a week ago, on a Saturday. I think his crew caught 3 combined. Things could change, and probably will. Last I heard, ice was fine. There is always open water over by the dam, so be careful. I think this year, walking is the preferred mode of transportation, wherever you go. After this week who knows? It's going to be a short season.

The open water out from the dam is from a pipeline that comes from the Bear River where the city can fill the resovoir during the winter. That is why the edges can get ugly and deep slush if the snow is deep.. Fishon

The post about Sulphur being slow is not true at all. My wife and I went yesterday from 10:30am to 1:30pm and landed about 20 out of the hole and probably missed at least that many. As for the ice conditions, there is plenty of ice. At least 12" worth in each of the holes I drilled. I drove my snow machine all the way across the ice with her on the back and dragging my sled full of gear, absolutely No Problem. There is a valve box near the damn that is open water that you need to avoid, but that is always open water there and should be avoided. Anywhere else on the lake is definitely fair game! The ice derby is coming up in a few weeks, hope you can make it up for it. Let me know if you have other questions. Good Luck[Wink]

Just wanted to let you know that I went out to Sulphur again today to film for Road Trippin' and the last week of warm weather has done damage to the edges. The lake still has about 12" of ice in the middle but the edges are gone and you'll have to wade out there to get on it. Maybe it'll save you a trip. The ice was great a few days ago but what a big difference a few days can make.

Thanks for the heads up. That would have been rough rolling up on. Appreciate it.

I told you things could change, and probably will. Fishing got better, and the ice got worse. Early summer, for the next 2 weeks, will probably put an end to ice fishing for this year.
