After receiving some "inside information" fom WH2, I headed to RP this AM. Started on the east side in 22 ft, but never marked a fish on the bottom, but had lots of trout crushing 10-15 ft. Never attempted to catch one, as I was determined for perch or skunk.
About 10:30 I moved in 30 ft of water and had my first small perch on the ice shortly thereafter. Landed 15 in total, but all but 2 went back. They were just too small to mess with. The bite died off around noon.
For those planning to fish the Wasatch back tournament on 2/14 at RP, I would strongly look at a plan B. The ice was solid, but there were many pressure cracks and cracks of all sizes all over. The edges are going real fast. It was 42 when I left and this week is going to be really warm. High 40's and 50's with lows not even freezing.
If you planned on hitting RP this season, but haven't yet, you better hurry...
