There we wuz! First crappie trip of the new year. Can you believe that I waited 29 days to fish for crappie? It was a memorable day for us. First of all it was windier than heck. But wind out of the south and not cold. Thank goodness. So we sort of moved around fishing different spots. I decided not to go shallow like everyone else has been doing lately. I&#39;m just a rebel I guess. <br /> emoBig
<br /><br />We fished until almost dark. Landed 41 crappie with 31 being keepers. I caught my PB crappie on Chickamauga today. 16.25&quot; and 2 lbs 10 ozs. Beautiful Black Crappie, that I released after pics and weighing it on my electronic scales. You should have seen the look on Dr Phil&#39;s face when I told him that I was going to release it. The expression was priceless. <br /><br />We fished deep and had to almost dead stick the Bobby Garland lures to get the fish to bite, but we did have a few doubles. Dr Phil took home 30 fish and most were 11-12.5 inches long. Heavy fat, healthy fish. It was an adventurous day. When we finally decided to quit after we had the 30th keeper in the livewell, I put everything up and got in the driver&#39;s seat, and the cranking battery was nearly dead. Didn&#39;t have enough juice to crank the big motor, so we had to put Crazy Ivan to work again. Set the trolling motor on rabbit gear and 45 minutes later, we pulled into HBSP where we had launched the boat today. I&#39;m glad that we weren&#39;t at Skull Island or another ramp. I guess that running both graphs and the livewell might be a little much for my cranking battery. I am charging it now and will get it checked out to make sure that I don&#39;t have a dead cell. It was a great day. <br /><br />Also, a bluecat was caught by Dr Phil and he also caught 2 small bluegills. I caught only crappie today. It&#39;s like riding a bicycle. You don&#39;t ever forget how to catch these things. emoBig emoGeezer
