So with the closure of HWY 40 yesterday, my ice fishing on Saturday was short lived and ended with a skunk (i lost one at the hole). With a pretty full can of worms and wanting to catch anything I headed down to utah lake this evening to see what would bite from the shore. I was hoping for cats and dinking around with a bobber for some possible white bass. As the sun set the cats started biting. Nothing special and nothing over 15" but I landed 6 and had a lot of bites all in the span of 2 hours from 5:30-7:30

That is interesting. Thanks for the report.
I bet this time of year you'll do a lot better at the end of the day than the early in the morning. Every day there is a warming / cooling cycle... the kitties are more active when it is warm.

I had to leave by 730 and i didn't come fully prepared for cats, it was kinda a spur of the moment type thing. I'm curious to find out if different bait will bring in bigger cat's, and to find out how late into the night they are actually hitting on these warm days, its suppose to be like this for a the next week with 50-60 degree weather...... I need to the the toon ready

I like using bigger baits on one rod and smaller on another. 4-5" whole chubs can work great.

Thanks for the report. I am thinking my first float will be off of lincoln beach here in about a week.

I have yet to fish Lincoln beach. I heard it's good fishing and this is my first year using my toon. I'll have to get it ready and try that area out.

Lincoln beach has some pretty decent areas and it is great for floating.

Yesterday afternoon I got a 7-8# (guesstimating) kitty off the yak slowly dragging a shrimp with one split shot. She pulled me around the lake a while before coming in. They're waking up!
