Found this site randomly while doing a google search, seems like a pretty cool place. I went down to Jensen Nature Park (community pond out in syracuse) last saturday for a couple of hours. Had no luck with a bobber and a worm, decided to take the bobber off and let the worm bounce along the bottom. Caught 9 rainbows within about 45 min.

I live right next to the Ogden River, and have yet to fish it (just moved there). I have 0 experience fly-fishing, and it seems as though all the reports out there talk about fly-fishing the river. Anyone have any luck/ideas for fishing it without fly-fishing?

Welcome to the site, it definitely is a great place for information.

As for the Ogden river. Without fly gear, try a small black and gold spinner, or something similar.

Good luck to you!

Spinners, tube jigs, small rapalas, drifting bait.....it will all work![Smile]

Welcome to the site Jonthecook, there is some good fishing in the Ogden river and one of the best methods besides flies is casting small rapalas or spinners like Mepps. You can also try plastics, bouncing them across the bottom but there are a lot of snags in the river so you just have to learn the area. Sounds like you did good on at Jensen Nature Park, you found a method that works at a lot of the community ponds. There are a lot of community ponds in this area and they usually keep them stocked with trout in the Fall, Winter and Spring and catfish in the Summer months. Good luck and thanks for posting your report.
