It has been MONTHS since I have been out fishing, and I found a day that I was not on Mrs EricM's schedule (how she missed it is a mystery) and the weather was going to be warm and calm. Seems the weatherman missed it too (not nearly as much mystery there). It stayed cold this morning and the wind kicked up something awful. I wished I had dressed warmer. Who knew it might be cold on an early February morning???

I took only 4 and 6 pound spinning rigs today and fished a drop-shot setup with night crawlers. Not a lot of action, but I did manage to boat 9 or 10 yellow perch today. Only one had any size to it, and it was a female. The two females I caught today were plump with eggs, but nowhere near ready to spawn - the egg sacks were still very firm. It looks like the smaller males are the ones moving in, and this coming cold snap may set them back a bit for the spawn. Fun to catch on light tackle!

All have been fileted and will be happily consumed tonight for dinner tonight with a nice beer batter. Glad I went out!!!!
