Went to the Web.,club, yeah I know , same old, same old. [frown] What's different was I haven't had any luck the last several times so it's been a while and it was the first time with Rusty on a elect. collar.
Both were a resounding success. Caught 3 17 " rainbows and that was enough for the fishing/supper. All on a prince. The collar worked well, even though we had a truck and fishermen going by and then we visted up close and personnel. He didn't bother them at all which is amazing. For you dog trainers using the elect collar, the vibrator seems to work even better than the shock!!!!! All in 2 1/2 hrs, [

Next, cows/deer as a distraction. [:/]

Great fishing day and sounds like the training is going well.

With my pups, after a few months of E-collar training, all I had to do is put it on them, and they knew they better listen and be civilized! To this day, if I even just hold the collar in my hand, they go from testing, 1, 2, 3, . . . to perfectly obedient children. When we go out in public, (fishing, stores, vet, etc) they wear the collars, but I seldom have to vibrate. Never have to shock any more.

Glad to hear it was a successful day on all fronts! I too have been training my pups with an electric collar. The older one has figured it out and he always listened well anyway.... However he doesn't care how many times you buzz or vibrate him if he sees a deer to chase. I can't figure it out because on a river he'll follow me and leave other animals alone, but up at flaming gorge if a deer comes on the property he chases the damn things until he realizes he's never going to catch them... lol.

Be careful if your way up in the mountains using the e-collar! I use the vibrate on mine as "come"... Last fall, I was 2 miles from the truck, across the weber, and up a steep mountainside scouting for deer and hunting some grouse. Got into a couple birds in some real thick brush. I hit the vibe button to call my dog over, but she must have thought I was downhill instead of uphill. I was being quiet stalking the birds and hit the button again...
My dog knows to come quick when I call her, so she started booking it down hill looking for me. By the time I started yelling for her, she was gone!
I was scared! I didn't know if she went uphill or down so I hiked all over looking for 2 more hours. Finally, discouraged and fearing the worst, I hiked back down to the truck.
3 hours after loosing her, 2+ miles and across the Weber, that dumb (or too dang smart) dog was sitting by the truck waiting for me!

Yep, my dog knows when the collar is on. Took him to the WEB. for some work with distractions and fun. The distraction was a heard of cows. he started for em and I did a short vibration, he turned and came running back Never bothered with the cows again. I was happily surprised. A little whining but that was it. went for a walk and water retrieves and came home. No fishing. had to get back.
The problem of getting
and running in the wrong direction, I worry about that too. Thar's why I try to keep him in sight at all times.[frown]
