So we were supposed to be doing our annual winter trip up to FG.. but all this warm weather cant stick around forever, it is february. I just dont feel like sticking out rain, snow or freezing weather [
] Aaanyway, were wanting to head South.. somewhere warm where we can hook into some fish. (thats the whole point right?) Weve never been to Powell and I havent been to Quail Creek since i was a teenager. Has anyone been down that area lately? Any tips or pointers would be greatly appreciated!! Well just be shore fishing for now. And any cabins or hotels nearby either of those? As close as possible! Thanks in advance!
Any other Lake recommendations down south wouldn't hurt either [

wayneswords.com is your best resource for lake powell fishing tips. Lots of decent places from shore around bullfrog marina, try the stanton creek area

If you do decide on Powell, the 2 motels I've stayed at are Defiance House right there overlooking the Bullfrog Marina (pricey though) and Ticaboo, which is about 12 miles from the marina, and a lot cheaper.
You might also consider Sand Hollow Reservoir, close to Quail Creek and St. George area.

Thanks guys! Yeah im wondering if we should just wait til it warms up a bit and camp at Powell... or maybe just drive down there our last day. Seems theres quite a few lodging choices for Quail Creek, thinking about staying at the KOA in a cabin. BUT not sure which areas are best to fish?? Or how the fishings been lately..

The ferry runs saturdays at Bullfrog. It's worth a ride once. People seem to be doing pretty good fishing off the docks at night with anchovies.
