Hi everyone!

I have been checking out this forum for the past few weeks, and I decided to sign up! This seems like a great forum to make connections with others who are enthusiastic about fishing. I grew up on the Mississippi River in Wisconsin, then I moved to Green Bay after college. In July, I decided to move to Utah, which is significantly different than Wisconsin, but I love the mountains!

If I were to pick my favorite types of fishing, I would say walleye fishing particularly through the ice. A close second would be fishing streams for trout.

I look forward to sharing information and learning new things from everyone on the forum! Thanks for being willing to share!

Welcome to the site CC, I see you have found the Utah board already. Nice first post about Fish lake. Catching walleye threw the ice here in Utah is a tough but it can happen. If you got here last July did you get a change to chase any soft water eyes?

I don't think walleye ice fishing will be happening in Utah if winters are going to be like this one!!! I didn't get out fishing much this fall due to everything that goes along with moving halfway across the country! I plan to start trying some open water walleye fishing soon, possibly even this weekend. I will update with a report if I do try my luck somewhere!

I've been here since 1976 and this is the shortest Winter I've ever seen. You can go back over the Archive boards on the Utah section and see this has never happened but the lower elevation lakes are the first to unthaw. We are only talking a month or so difference but if you want to chase trout you should be able to do that for another month or so on the ice.[Wink] The only lake I have ever caught a eye threw the ice is Starvation and that was just a few years back. That year we ice fished that lake into March.
