this is the first sauger post for the season and maybe the last. Very few sauger in the chick to be caught. have not been able to fish due to work and weather since martin luther holiday. today water was running 45000 cfs. water very clear and cold 40 degrees. very little wind and bright sunshine. I had two bites -- using 1 oz bucktail jigs with stinger hooks with a 2inch plastic grub on stinger hook, fish were caught in 45 fow. both fish 21 to 22 inchs, did not weigh. for 5 hours fishing -- these two fish. all during Christmas and early January we could only locate 1 or 2 keeper sauger per trip, so based on previous history I got my limit.
