I have never read any reports regarding ice fishing at Smith and Morehouse. Anyone done it? Been up this year? Reports on the current ice conditions and access to the res? I have not fished it on the ice and was thinking about giving it a try for a change this weekend. Any reports or help would be helpful.

Thanks!

The reason you don't see any reports is that most years it is snowed in early and only reachable by snowmobile.

Now there is a spot I have never thought about ice fishing. Never even been there fishing in the summer months. Are there any fish of size in there? I have a snowmobile and it would fun to try a new location.

It has a few decent fish, but most are small and plentiful. It also has grayling, which would be fun to catch through the ice.

I have fished there a lot in the summer, not in the winter though.

In summer I have always been able to catch rainbows, but I have yet to pull anything real large out. I have fished from shore with worms and also taken the fly rod out on the float tube which is a blast. It's been a couple years since I have been so I will have to get back up!

The river there also provides some fun fishing, but again mostly smaller rainbows.

I bet it freezes up early. Would be a long trip in by snowmobile, but a lot of fun. Too far to go with only one snowmobile, but with a couple (in case one konks out) it could be a fun day. Kent... it has been a while since we last fished together. If we could come up with another machine, it would be fun to go this next winter. My wife won't let me go without her anymore. She enjoys the outings as much or more than I do. We might have to think about it come December.
