Hey all,

I'm wanting to head to Strawberry for potentially my last ice trip of the season.
I'm wanting to try and head to the Soldier Creek side, but I've never been there before. Does anyone have suggestions on areas that would produce better than others? I've heard near the dam is good, are there other spots one would try?

I don't get many weekends to head out and fish or I'd just Trial and Error it and punch a bunch of holes all over knowing that if it goes bad I can always try next week. I appreciate any help that comes my way, save me and my auger some time drilling. Smile

I have fished there quite a bit. I have found that the best depth is about 20ft. The fish seem to swim through in schools so when they come through, the bite is on. Most hit around 10-12 ft, but often you will pick some up off the bottom. I fish two poles, one high, one low.

Pretty much anywhere in the main bay is good to fish. I have not been over by the boat ramp for ice fishing. I don't have a snow mobile or 4 wheeler so I am usually just walking in. Getting on and off the ice can be tricky because of the grade. Not much snow so you will be hiking up and down in the mud.

I would get there early. The first few hours (6-9 AM) have been the best for me. I have had 30 fish days there and some 3-4 fish days as well. I usually use paddle bugs and wax worms, all colors.

Hope this helps

Thank you for the tips. We went last night and ended up just missing every bite that came through. I guess that's what we get for fishing blind.

We ended up fishing the north arm on the west side. Reading your post again I wish we had taken the first turnoff.

Ah well, it was a BEAUTIFUL starry sky and not a freezing night either. Can't beat the scenery even with a skunky smell.
