For a couple of weeks now, Fish1on and myself have been contemplating every possible way to get out on Bear Lake with my boat to fish the pre-cicso spawn out around the rock pile. We considered ice busting at the marina, launching on the east side, south end possibilities, even dragging a 12 foot aluminum through the snow to the beach on the west side. Bait_Caster even suggested a float-plane! "Land on the water … pop open the door … drop anchor … start jigging." Fish1on made two separate weekend trips to Bear Lake just to check out the conditions. Then with some very bad advice from Pugstones, we were ready to try the marina today. I called Pugstones Friday morning and the guy on the phone assured me that the bubblers were running and several guys were getting their boats out by breaking through a little ice. Hey, who better to ask than the local guides? Even though this was contrary to what BearLakeFishGuy had posted, Fish1on and I both, once again, got hopeful and excited. We bought and arranged tackle and brought my boat in out from under 20 inches of snow and ice, Well, just as common sense would tell you, Fish1on found the bublers shut down and the marina locked down with 4 inches of ice. Sure would like to have got out there this weekend. Until next time I can get my boat out there, I'll just settle for this past season's fantastic mega-mack-memories.
