Candi and I set sail this AM to test new products from Bass Assassin. We started off upriver and fished a while, then loaded boat back up and went downriver and launched again and fished until just after 4:00 PM. We both tied and re-tied many lures today to see what would work, what colors were best, etc. We had a pretty good day considering the blue skies and wind that shifted from the NE early to SW later on in the day.

As many of you all know, Panfish Assassins were my first love when it comes to crappie lures. The 1.5 inch baby shad is still the best dock shooting lure that you can tie on. I convinced Candi early on that the lure shoots great and she was commenting on how far she could skip a jig back under a dock. We tried the 1.5 inch shad in many colors, the 2.0 inch shad in a few colors, and the crappie dapper in a couple of different colors. The hot lure today was Limetreuse Ghost in the 1.5 inch size on both 1/32 and 1/16 oz sizes. We let the water depth determine which size to use.

We fished docks early, then main river dropoffs later in the day. The main river was most productive. The was a rare day when the Teacher took the Student to school. I had a great day. Candi caught several fish too, but she usually catches 3 to my 1. I had a great time today, Candi. Looking forward to fishing the Canine for Crappies tournament this coming April 19th. We had 16 keepers which we donated to Stacy and Shane of Towboatsus. Stacy was tickled about getting the fish and promised that they would have crappie for supper tonight. We also had several short fish as well. The Bass Assassins lures worked well for us today.

BTW, while I am thinking about the tournament, Candi has lots of good prizes to give away and everyone that fishes will get some of these Bass Assassins at the sign up. I hope everyone will either come out and fish it, or at least come to the weigh in. You can donate to the Canine for Crappies whether you fish or not. We would love to see a big crowd. Tenncrappie and I will be checking livewells and taking care of the blast off. Well, it won't be a blast off, rather a 1 by 1 sending off according to how people sign in on that tournament morning.

I am posting just a few pics that we took today. Candi has more that she will post later. It is okay for everyone to laugh at the final pic, but whoever calls me a skunk head will be banned from the G3 forever. My hat and the sunshine today did a number on my head. emoUpSmile emoUpSmile emoUpSmile emoUpSmile emoGeezer
