Headed up to Mantua this morning with my dad to get into some bass and had a fairly decent day. Got on the water around 9:00 and headed to the north side. Most of the bass were caught on jerk baits and some hits on spinners as well. Overall we caught 10 bass, with all but 2 being on the small side. Also caught a rainbow on a crankbait on the east side of the reservoir.

Fished until about noon and loaded it up. Mantua has been a fun place to at least get a few in the boat these last few weeks!

I was up there yesterday afternoon and did pretty well with jerkbaits, lipless cranks, spinnerbaits and a flat sided crank. I ended up with 31. I got two at 17", maybe ten in the 12-14" range and the rest were total dinks. I was surprised by how well they were hitting jerkbaits considering how dirty the water was.

All I've caught the last couple of times was rainbows. Am I just fishing in the wrong spot?

Great pics, nice to see the bass coming out to play.

We were pitching up against the banks but they were hitting it a little further out yesterday.. Some right before my lure got to the boat.

Could be. Remember the north side of the lake is going to get the most sun this time of year, so it will have warmer water. The day I fished it was right after the cold front and the fish had pulled out into about 6-8 feet of water. I was marking a lot of fish down there, but only some of them wanted to play.

Wrong bait. You got to fish bass gear to catch bass. Try plastics, jerk baits, or spinner baits near deep water right now.
