Took my son over to Utah Lake this afternoon for a few hours. Wind was blowing to beat hell but can't catch fish at home on the desert. We thought about trying our luck at Lincoln Beach as it was kind of on the leeward side of west mountain but it had plenty of folks already set up on the dikes and pretty much everywhere else. So we drove around to Goshen bay and set up at a spot I have had decent success with white bass. Used a Gulp catfish dough ball in liver flavor with a crawler, weighed down plenty on the bottom to negate the wind. My boy caught a nice little mudcat right out of the gate. About 20 minutes later my pole bent a little. Reeled in a 5 pound channel to our pleasant surprise. About 20 inches long and in decent flesh. We stayed another hour til the sun set and then packed up and headed west for home. Sorry there aren't any pictures but I left the camera home. We had a good time together and can't wait to do it again. Saw several carp jump and roll. With this warm weather they ought'a start having a carp lovefest before to long. Ya'll have a good evening.
