One of my buddies from VA came down for his annual guide trip on the Chick. He has been doing this with me ever since I moved here. We got into them pretty good. Yesterday the bite was great and we boated 29 bass with our best five going 18 and a half pounds. We lost a couple good ones we saw that would have helped. Never could get the big kicker to go with the three pounders we kept boating. We probably culled another 15 pound limit. Best one of the mix was 4/11. Had a lot of fun catching. emoThumbsup Really a nice day and found water up into the mid 60s. emoTongue

Today however the water temp dropped like a rock. emoBawl The warmest water we could find was 58. Not only did the temp drop but they must have pulled the plug on the lake. emoDoh I bet it was down a foot from yesterday to today. Cold water, high winds, dropped the lake a foot....need I say more. emoMad It was tough on the lake today. We only managed 8 in the boat. The good part of that was we had two kickers today. One was a beauty at 8 lbs and 14 ozes. Almost nine pounds. emoDance The other was 7 lbs and 7 ozes. The issue about today was we could not get much to go with them. Would have had to weigh in three solid twos to finish off our limit. Still would have had 24 pounds so we were plenty happy. emoBig

I think our fish are really . It is hard to tell if you need to be in 30 foot or 3 foot right now. emoCrazy Less then a week ago it was almost 80 degrees and tomorrow we have freeze warnings!!! emoGoofy The fish don't know where to be either. We fished all over the place and caught bass in a bunch of different depths and places. The one thing I took from it was the bass are ready to go shallow and are ready to get the spawn started. emoToast The lake will start to come up here really soon and it would appear that the spawn will be a good one since I have not seen any trying to start yet. Here are a couple pictures.

C-ya on the water.

emoAngler Jmax
