The spring boating flows for Black Canyon are starting.
The normal flow is about 70 to 100 cfs. The boater flows are up to 900 cfs. This is class 5 white water.

These high flows also are frequently mirrored in the flows below Oneida Dam. Take care in either area

Have the f&g done any studies on what this does to the cuts they are planting in the tributaries around this area?

I know that they pit tagged a bunch of cutts to see how the flows affect adult fish. I don't know the results of that study. I also am curious on how they affect young fish.

Best information would be if you called the SE Idaho F&G office and talk to Dave Teuscher.

The kayak groups lobbied to get these whitewater flows. At least they flush some of the sediment downstream.

I believe it has made the fishing much better by doing the larger flows the river bottom is much cleaner with a lot less mud

It should, its essentially putting the river to flood stage like what would occur with spring run off each year. This is always a good thing for trout as it tends to clean out gravel bars and spawning areas.
