The wind can have an affect on them, but when the wind kicks up at Willard, you should be more concerned with getting off the water ASAP rather than catching wipers. I have been out there when the water went from glass to 4' swells in a matter of 15 minutes! it was scary, if my bilge pump was inop, my boat would be on the bottom!

As far as wipers go, I would be more concerned with the cooler water. I'm sure this last storm cooled it off pretty good. Also, all the snow melt runoff will keep it from warming up for a while... Probably going to be slow til next week but you cant catch fish sitting at home, so I'll still be out there trying!

good info..I knew it could get hairy out there in the wind. so besides wipers how do you think the 'eyes and the crappie will be affected?

In my experience, the whole lake slows down for a few days after a storm. But, Willard is a funny place. Some of the best days out there are days when the fishing is "supposed to be horrible". I fish whenever I get a chance regardless of the moon cycles or water temp. But I will say I am a bit more excited about it when the water is warmer and conditions are right!
