It has been probably a month or so since I have posted on here. I have fished Cutler almost every weekend, only twice in the boat. With my schedule I have not been able to make long trips at all so that is why I am not having much success in catching fish. All I have been able to catch are ugly yellers and carp. The ugly yellers keep the kids busy while I try to throw everything out at the bigger cats. The carp have been fun and it looked like they were getting more active on Saturday. Plan on going out again this next weekend hopefully for an all day event though and none of these 2-3 hour trips.

I know this won't help the yellow belly problem, but for some reason all I can catch channels on lately is night crawlers. Make sure at least one of your rods has a worm on. I have caught a couple on minnows but cut bait is really really slow for me.

I didn't even make a two hour trip this weekend. Kind of having bad withdrawal pains heading back to work without a fishen fix this weekend. Let's hope for better luck next weekend even though the weather report looks bad. Glad you and the kids are still after them. Later J

I always fish at least one rod with worm too. Once I am done with school I am going to live on Cutler.

How much longer do you have till school is out? Hopefully the weather will be kind when you get a chance to go... I know I'd sure love a full day to go hit it the way I know it needs to be fished... Not that I'd bring in any big numbers but I'd at least like to try hard so I know I'm doing my best... So far I'm half efforts and I know they won't catch the big ones unless I draw a fluke and the big boys screw up... Anyway I sure need to get my numbers up into the high 20's just to stay with the pack in this contest... I can see in the next few weeks there will start to be some good fish hitting the contest board and I sure want some of them to be ours from up north...

Hey have you noticed how skinny the carp are this year? They seem to have huge heads long bodies and not a lot of meat on them. Do you think it has anything to do with the Cutler draw down? I have caught some carp out of other ponds this spring and they are a lot fatter than the ones I'm catching out of Cutler... Hope that doesn't mean the cats will be shrunken this year... Later J

The only good carp is a dead carp. haha

No Channels (or carp) for me this weekend, but I did get into some bass. Oh, and a few ugly yellow bellies as well. Better than nothing!

My buddy Casey got into some huge carp bowfishing American falls. Never seen carp that big before.

We're those bass in the same pond you fished Saturday or another lake? With all the Willard crappie action I was wondering if anyone is finding them locally yet? Be fun to know where they gather to spawn. Later J

Hey Jeff, no it wasn't in the same area I fished on Saturday...but it was on Cutler. I'll give you details if you text me.

Hey the cats were hungry tonight, but not a lot of size 19-24.5". Got 5 in two hours. Sorry I should have called but it was a short run out and try night. Thanks for the bass offer I may take you up on it, but make me get Ya out after the cats first. Later J

Finals are next week and I plan on going out Monday afternoon for a while load up all the kids and see what I can do. I have noticed the smaller carp this year but I think it may be two early for the bigger ones to get more active ask me in about a month and I will let you know. I usually find more carp than cats. My wife is starting to work a swing shift so most of my outings are going to be fun, kid, full nights out on the marsh. I can't wait to get out more and start doing serious fishing and get some fish on the frier.

I can't wait for finals to be over so I can get out and fish more. Went out to cutler the other day and only got a carp, no cats.

Good luck on the finals and your plans sound fun I'll bet that schedule will make for many good contest entries. Good luck. J

I went out on Cutler today, only had one bite, but it was enough. Not a monster, but a 24 channel cat made the day worthwhile. I read Skunked's comment that he is only catching them on night crawlers, and so today I threw out a night crawler on one rod, a carp strip on the other. Sure enough, the fish slammed the crawler. I was sitting 10 feet away to stay out of the cattails, and nearly lost the rod. No interest on the cutbait.

Congrats on the cat. I know what you mean about nearly losing the rod. Those cats this week are on fire for fight. Had one doing aerials like a smallmouth except a two foot fish is a little more impressive in the air Tyson told me his did the same thing last night too. I also had one grab and go, I caught my rod just as it was clearing the rod holder headed into the pond. This is what really makes it fun. Glad you got a good one even if it does drop me another position. Well done. J
