First spot we started fishing Earl breaks one off on hook set pretty early into it. Probably ten minutes after that I felt a thump on a Shakey. Boated a 5.64. Good start. I broke one off on hook set not long after that. We fished that area til around 1130 or so and caught some small keepers in the 2-2.5 range to give us three. We decided to move on and try to get a bigger bite elsewhere. Got to the last stop and Earl starts throwing a jig and sets the hook on a good one. I grab up the net and Earl has it coming my way and all of the sudden it darts down and the jig pops loose. That one hurt looked to be in the seven range give or take. After we stopped moping about that Earl sets the hook on another one. I grabbed up the net again. Boated a 3.5. Culled one of the 2s. He ended up catching a few more on the jig and it was time to weigh in. Thought we had lost the first place fish but turned out we had enough for the win with 11.88#s. Jmax and James were not far behind though. Fish were caught on shakeys ,spinnerbaits ,and jigs today. Fun TX today. Congrats to all that placed. See yall next time.
