I couldnt resist. I had to go back. I was planning a trip to Utah Lake to chase kitties but with subnominal reports I figured lets do Willard one more time while the bite is still good and there is still water to fish in. I arrived at 6:40 just as TD was about to launch. Waved to Ol coot as he was heading out for a day of fun as well. I took the toon with me today and left the beast home so as to do a little finesse fishing. Also I was by myself so launching would not have been easy either. I wasn't long before I was into fish. I was hoping to bring in a wiper or perch or somthing but today it was a crappie kind of day. I ended up boating 18 slabs, three were invited home to dinner. The smallest 11" and the largest 13" All were within that range and thick. I had fun pulling jigs around on my Ultra light gear and man they put up a fight. I even had a double on at one time. I attempted use of my 7/8 wt fly rod but since the only line I have on it is a bass taper I threw out a clouser which has a little weight on it. No lovin from that. I need another reel/spool with some sinking line me thinks. I was off the water at 11 when my battery ran out of juice and when I got tired of being the ball in a pinball sort of way trying to avoid all the boats that anchored up to chase the crappie. Saw DKStroutfitter as I was leaving. Nice to put faces with fellow members.[] Water temps were 56 with calm seas. I couldn't help to think of my late father in law. He always gave me a hard time about chasing crappie. [fishin] Great day on the water...next trip I need to get back to UL.
