Had an appointment at the cardiologist this morning, and wouldn't you know it - the boat followed me to his office in Chattanooga all the way from Cleveland. I complained to them that there was a severe shortage of truck/boat parking in their lot, but got little sympathy from those who had to work all day.

They got even with me by informing me after checking the battery on my pacemaker that I had only 6+ months left to live. I knew that was a lie, since when they slowed the pacemaker during the test my heart took over and maintained. Of course, my heart rate was only 35. I'm sure that would be sufficient - unless I wished to move my eyes or wiggle my ears, in which case the blood flow would likely be a bit deficient. Looks like new pacemaker is in my near future. They warned me that when the battery reached the minimum voltage that the pacemaker would vibrate (in my chest) and that I should call for an appointment. No $#!t Sherlock. Now every time my phone vibrates I'll go into panic mode.....................

So anyway, since I was halfway to the Nickajack Dam and the boat was intent on following me, I launched below the dam and went for skipjack. I used a white Foley spoon with 3/4 oz of weight 18" in front of it. I did not find much for fish until a couple of guys anchored near the wing wall invited me to anchor close to them and work a small spot that was really hot for the skippies. They even threw a bunch of skippies into one of my coolers as they caught them. We all had a ball, and I came home with 64 medium-sized fresh skips. I left them biting, I was just worn out from fighting them in the fast water and I still have a bunch frozen from last fall anyway.

I vacuum-sealed and dated all of the fish and rotated my frozen bait stock, keeping only skips that were 6 months old or less. Seems I have been catching some pretty nice catfish on 4 year old (freeze-dried) bait. I wonder what would happen if I actually used something that still had scent and taste?!? I think I'll try it tomorrow and see...........................

No pics of the fish - if you've seen one skipjack, you've seen 64 of them........................................
