Has anyone used any of these? We are planning a trip to fish lake this summer and will be renting a boat, in the past we have trolled with just weight on the line but always seem to do better for the nicer splake a little deeper but with out down riggers it is a chore. So i was wondering if any one had used these and what your experience was?

I am thinking of getting dipsy divers myself. Along with some metered braided line, they look easy enough to use. I have one 25 foot jet diver, but havent used it yet.

I started using them last summer behind planer boards fishing for kokanee at Strawberry and the Gorge. We caught the heck out of the kokes on them.

How deep of jet divers do you use and what do you use for lures?

I use them. They work but aren't ideal. My complaint is that while reeling in a fish there is a lot of drag to the point where it takes the fun out of feeling the fish fight. Some day I'll get a downrigger.

When you pull planer boards I already have plenty of drag, and granted you do lose some kokes pulling the boards, once I get the board unhooked The jet divers seemed to reel up fairly easy. I know they sure worked for us. probably 3 to 4 hits on the boards per each hit on the down riggers running the same baits. I would say # of fish put in the cooler probably averaged about the same. I was just trying to help a fellow BFT'R out who asked the question about the jet divers.[fishin]

I have used the dipsy divers and the jet divers over the years, and I have them both in various sizes. I have also used leaded line, and downriggers to get my lures to where the fish are. Furthermore, I have used sinkers in various ways to accomplish that goal. I have had success with all of these tools over the years when I did a lot of trolling for fish. Since I started to fish from a float tube, and a pontoon, I haven't used them as much. However, all of them worked for me, and I enjoyed using them because they did work.

I prefer the dipsy divers myself for the some of the reasons mentioned above. Not owning any planer boards I also like the dipsy diver's ability to adjust to "plane" away from the boat to keep lines from getting tangled.
That said, I have since acquired a manual downrigger for about 50 bones off ksl classifieds and serves the needs of my 14' aluminum can. [sly]

The reason I went to using the jet divers behind the planer boards is that they dive straight down so I knew where they were at and the approximate depth, I had no idea where the dipsey divers were at when I used them behind the boards it was usually a SWAG [:/]
