Tried LB this a.m. Left home at around 6:30 with dead calm winds. Got to the launch only to find a heavy wind and big white caps rolling out of the NW. Bummer... turned around and went home. Maybe a night shift tonight?

Someone, I have no idea who, hooked on to the "SLOW" buoy that had been strategically placed four feet off the end of the launch and moved it up on the berm along side the red and green light buoys. The Parks and Recreation people tell me the buoys will placed at the entrance to the launch channel this week.

I have been trying to find out who placed the telephone poles at the end of the launch channel last year to see if they had plans to install solar lights there or whatever. Nobody knows who put 'em there or if there are plans to install lights. Tried everybody from Ut. Co. Parks, Parks and Rec., State Parks, even the Sheriff's Office. The mystery remains...

Saw a couple of guys shooting carp in the reeds/phrags last week before the cold front came in. Looked like they were getting some action.

Hoping for love to begin in earnest this week.

I may sneak over on Friday and try my luck for a few hours if the weather stays warm. Or I may go scout for turkeys instead.[Smile]

be sure and give us a report if you make it out tonight. I am thinking of tomorrow and taking the boys out with me.

I took my wife down to cabelas so I could start my Mother's Day shopping and the wind was howling.

Did you end up making it out last night, or today? The weather today was beautiful, and looks to stay that way for the foreseeable future. I'm hoping to get out there soon, myself.

I got to LB last night at about 8:00 -- still windy, did not launch. Saw a nice cat caught on the wind sheltered channel and caught one myself.

Went out again this a.m. -- calm, 57 degrees, but very murky water. Gave up after two hours and one fish.

Did notice that in spite of the chilly water the carp were doing their surface slurping. Did not see much carp activity in the shallows but lots of carp clusters in deeper water.

Going out tomorrow with an old man who floats around in a tube and has a personal relationship with many of the big kitties in the area. Plan to take a pencil and note pad with me. Also plan to throw my bow in the boat too. Can always use some fresh bait.

We have a full moon comin' up this weekend and weather permitting I will be putting in night shifts every night. Gotta hit it heavy while there is still water to fish in.

Will report.
