Full Version: So where are those wipers???

Seems like fishing reports for Wipers at Willard have really slowed down...are most people catching them close to shore now? It seems like the shore is just crowded with tons of people that don't really catch much, but once in a while I see a good report on here. I must not know the secret spots =)

Been going out on my float tube, but lately have only managed Crappie and a Walleye, any suggestions on where I might find some Wiper?

Thanks

I trolled the whole dang lake yesterday and only caught a couple walleye! Those dang wipers drive me crazy! One week I will land 50+ wipers, the next, not one!
I heard of a couple being caught in freeway bay, but definitely not hot wiper action. Maybe the 80 degree temps today will get them going again?

We caught 6 in about 30 minutes last night trolling out in the middle of the bay last night. We had fished for 4 hours up to that point without a touch. We trolled the usual spots with no love and ran out to the middle just in a random spot and found them for that short time but couldn't get back on them. Willard is a weird place to figure out for me.

I was there last night around 4:30 to 7:00. We fished from shore on the dirt road side and between 4 of us we all caught our limits and lost a bunch from line breakage or missing the sets. They were smaller than last week but got one nice sized one. no measurements was really unprepared. they came in waves about every hour.

I think the weather and the spawn has slowed down the wiper bite of late. there spread out and or up against shore right now south corner of freeway bay or the north marina would be my choice if I were on a tube.
