My wife thinks I have too much tackle. But I have to disagree. I just have it all over the place is all. With the ever changing and evolving way my tactics change I have accumulated quite a supply of gear. In fact I have stuff I forgot I have.[:p] I am revisiting old tactics since I have new ways of finding the fish. With the revisitng of tactics called for a reorganizing of the tackle. I only got through a small percentage last night. I have a long ways to go.[laugh]
My repertoire is increasing.[

] This does not include a bag kept out of state, ice gear, and my vest.
So how much is too much?

My wife says I am collecter more then a fisherman.
Your collection makes me feel small time.
Can't wait to show her your pics.

[sly]Glad I can be of assistance.

LOL, looks my my collection too. I was at a real dilemma trying to figure out how to organize everything. I settled on using standard Plano plastic boxes for almost all the various lures, with each box plainly labeled "jigs", "cranks", or whatever, and I found these canvas bags from BassPro that hold 7 large boxes each. Before a fishing trip i just grab whatever type of lures I'll probably use and put those boxes in the canvas bags, with two bags giving 14 large boxes. Tools like clippers, pliers, etc as well as misc tackle like swivels, hooks, spit shot, leader, etc all go into one big standard tackle box which I now have in the boat always. So I think I'm finally organized. So far so good. Before getting these canvas bags, I would end the day with plastic boxes lying all over the boat.

Hmmmm... your wife might be on to something there. She is obviously a very perceptive lady.
Must be a special lady if she puts up with you
and all your can't-do-without tackle.[

The canvas bags are a smart idea. For me the large cream and green plano 6906 box is nothing but storage. Contains all new lures unopened. The green upright was used years ago when one of my buddies had a bass boat and I found this took minimal space. Now I have it loaded with extra/new bass gear and plastics. The green bags contain all the boxes and tools I use while out on my toon and boat. The brown and cream box is my trolling box. The blue three tray box I made several years ago as a trout box and don't really use it much any more so I am looking at ways to clean it out and pass it on. The small red box is one I can put in a suitcase and carry across the country with. I have found that I need another of the green bags and I will obtain that soon.

Naw she has a way of making it disappear. I usually find it in her tackle box.[

I suppose...if you had to...if your arm was twisted...or if your wife said it was your stuff or her... you might be able to part with...
...the swing.

Yeah, I have several specialized boxes too. My Strawberry box, my catfish box, my pike box, my Lake Powell box, a koke trolling box, of course an ice fishing box, even a small box for slimer fishing. Then there are the small boxes for the float tube, and the fly fishing gear.........[crazy] I can still remember a LONG time ago when I just had one tackle box, with a little of everything in it. Unbelievable.

My collection is only half that size, but it sounds like you get our a lot more than I do.
You and the others posting here have given me some good ideas on how to better organize though. Now I just have to figure out when I can do it, and where I can spread it all out. [

Going throught the stuff I noticed I got a little lazy when it came to putting stuff away. I had spinners in three different boxes and spoons spread out as well. I have condensed a few things so that I only take one box out with me instead of three with the same stuff in it.[crazy] Still got a long ways to go though.

Spread out is right. I got all set up and my dear wife decides to come out and play with the garden hose. I wasn't looking forward to getting wet.[crazy] I only went through my spinners and some spoons and added a few new cranks in to my mess. Now I still have plastics, hooks, wieghts, more cranks, etc... to go.

After seeing your tackletorium I would have to agree Pat.

Ha! This post reminded me of my favorite fishing saying! So I updated my signature at the bottom to reflect it...

Funny thing about my wife. She was helping to pick out a couple of tackle bags for the kids. She even found one for me. lol

Hmm I have some jars of bait that I may never use. I think I will pass them on to my kids.

+1. About 1/3 of the square feet of my house, my entire basement and spare bedroom, is full of mine. Plus other areas just about everywhere. I could probably retire on the money I've spent on stuff I've never even used, much of which is still in original packaging. The rest . . . well . . . let's just say I've had a lifelong problem.
Another stupid "reality" show, Tackle Hoarders!
[signature]
[#0000FF]My "problem" is that I have lived, worked and/or fished in so many places...for so many species...that I have accumulated lots of stuff I am not likely to ever need again. But...you never know. I ain't gettin' rid of anything 'cause I may just find a use for it.
That really does sound like the rationalization of a "hoarder". Heard another Utah BFTer refer to himself as a "tackle whore". I mighta misunderstood him and he may have said hoarder. Sounds about the same and pretty much means the same.
Still, I'd rather collect tackle than cats. Those old "cat ladies" got REAL problems. No need to go there.
