If I had to choose between those two , I would pick June . If we have a hot summer September could have high lake temperatures . Now if you said the first part of October , I would have chose the later date .

I agree, and I will give it a shot right around the middle of June

The ice went off 30 days before opening weekend . That is very unusual . This year could be very different than others .

Curts right on it being a different year. I wouldn't be shocked to see hatches showing up 2-3 weeks earlier this year than normal.
My parents took a ride up there last weekend and the water was clear and the fish were still stacked up at the state dock.

Strawberry here in Utah seems to be fishing a little different then years past, with the early ice off. Hopefully Henry's will be fishing okay, we will see in about a month.
I spent about six weeks up in that area over in Montana starting in the middle of June. Looking forward to seeing how the other lakes will be fishing this year. Quake, Cliiff, ,and Wade. I may give Hebgen a little more attention this year.

If you don't mind my asking....how do you fish Quake ? I've spent all my time on Cliff, Wade and the Madison when I'm up there. Always just driven by Quake ( all the time thinking.....there's gotta be some hogs in there !)

Quake can be tough, the water warms up a bit in July, and with the work on Hebgen dam they have been running the water off of the top of the lake, anyway thats what I have been told the last two or three years. I think I heard they finish this year, but don't know for sure. If they have ,and start running the water out of the bottom, we should have some colder water during the summer on Quake ,and the Madison.
I fish mainly buggers, and leeches on Quake, but I did start fishing dries on there last year. I stay at Slide Inn's RV park just below Quake . I can be up there in ten minutes, so I try to fish it every other day. Biggest issue with Quake you need to watch out for the underwater tree stumps, you can donate a lot of flies using sinking line.

Yeah....I've been trying to be up there as early in the summer as I can these last few years. We stay at the Campfire Lodge when we go. Can't make it till early Aug this year....think it'll be some tough conditions. Hit the whole area last year first week in June and fished mostly in the West Fork area. Tore'em up on streamers in the lightly stained waters. Fish would follow right up to my feet. Guess I'll float my pontoon on Quake this year and give that a solid effort. Thanks for the info !
