Dr Phil and I got sort of a late start this AM. We had a miscommunication about where we were going. I thought we were going to the Riverpark, and he thought we were going to Watts Bar tailwaters. So, he was waiting on me and I was waiting on him in different locations, til he finally called me. So, I headed to pick him up and we went to the tailwaters of Watts Bar dam.

We were targeting Stripers, but we had no luck on these. Only one turbine running, but it didn't seem to bother the two guide boats from North Carolina as they were throwing live bait and hooking up on a regular basis. We threw artificial lures at the Stripers for a while without a bite, so we decided to begin drifting and fishing swim baits and see what turned up.

I had a really good AM. Phil did finally get the skunk off him, but it took a while. We landed 10 big White Bass and I caught my first Walleye up there in years. It was a 22.75 inch beauty that weighed 3 lbs 14 ozs. I caught it on a 3/8 oz Shad head jig that I pour up and powder painted chartreuse. The plastic portion of the lure was a 3.5 inch Salty Fluke Jr in white ice color with the tail dipped in chartreuse. This fish is destined for the Crisco Lake tonight. emoHungry

That is about the extent of our report. Lots of Cormorants up there gobbling up shad. Blue Herons and Ospreys were also picking up bait. Two guys in a canoe showed up at the wing wall about mid morning. emoBig emoGeezer
