Summer fishing patterns have arrived to the Indian River and Mosquito Lagoon Florida, rising water temperatures, mullet and baitfish schools continue streaming in from the south, early mornings alive with surface activity and feeding fish waking up with the light of the day. Both flats fishing for Redfish and Seatrout as well as backcountry variety mixed bag fishing trips are great summer time fishing choices here in the East Central Florida inshore saltwater intracoastal waterway. New clients from Ft Myers FL, Dalton, Richie and Brian had an offshore ocean trip planned but were blown out of that plan by high winds on the ocean, so they went flats fishing with me on the calm protected Mosquito Lagoon, of the 7 Redfish they caught, most were of normal size, near the 18” to 27” slot, however Richie got his largest ever 37” Red with a big light tackle battle......................

On a recent afternoon backcountry mixed bag trip, a group of first time clients from Pennsylvania had a great fun time, catching Trout, Mangrove Snapper, Jack Crevalle, Ladyfish, and their favorite catches were a few good Black Drum including this nice one caught by Bobbi.................

I put together a 2 day, 2 boat charter with a group of 6 men from Stuart FL, asked my friend Capt Tony to be the 2nd boat. Flats fishing for Redfish on Mosquito Lagoon was the target of the trip, on my boat the guys had a total of 10 Redfish caught on the flats and also a bunch of Seatrout we fished up on artificials, drifting over deeper sea grass beds. Nick had a great battle with a 31” Red, then had a seat to hold it for his photo...........................
