Just got my email on hunt draws. I'm a real loser. No Desert Bighorn or Limited entry elk. Did get a general deer though. I might just have high expectations because I drew a moose tag with just 4 points a few years back. Good luck to all. For all those losers like me just hang in there.

No Desert Bighorn
No Limited Archery Elk
I did draw a Nebo Archery deer and my wife pulled a San Juan muzzy deer tag.

My parents didn't even draw deer tags. How Utah can withhold tags from hunters in their 70's is beyond me. They should be guaranteed general deer tags!!! They have only funded the wildlife department for 50+ years!!!

Yea, no Desert Bighorn for me either and I have 21 bonus points, I thought I'd get one for sure this year with that many point[:|].
I get a guaranteed general deer tag every year, I paid for it in 1992[Wink].

Dude, I could not agree more. The seniors of this state should have an opportunity to get a general deer after 65 years of age. IF they have hunted for years and still have the health and desire to be out in the hills, they deserve it.Period!!!!

Wyoming h as done this for years. Fishing license was always a gimmee. I think they had to apply for some tags, but There were some I think they received.

If I have to wait until I have more than 21 points to get a Desert Bighorn tag, I'll be hunting them with a halo wings and a bow. As far as seniors getting a deer tag I agree 100% that makes sense. Especially now I can get the senior breakfast at Denny's.

I did the math a little while back. If the current permits stand as is.

With the current state of permits it would be wise to never put in for just bonus points.

Point's don't do you anything unless you are at the top of the points pool.

Utah is a 50/50 state. 50% go to top points and 50% go into the random draw. It's a pretty fair system.

This all varies on unit also, some units have less max points than others. Though this is what it will take to get everyone through the system.

For me as a NR beginning next year it will take me.

LE Deer 860 Years
LE Elk 97 Years
LE Pronghorn 8 Years
OIL D-Bighorn - Infinite
OIL R- Bighorn - Infinite
OIL Bison - 5582 Years
OIL Goat - 11,856 Years
OIL Moose - 6147 Years

If I move back and become a Resident
LE Elk 11 Years
OIL Rocky Big Horn 976 Years

Others will start after if I draw the OIL/LE Tag.

NR can put in for everything, but there are not a lot of permits - so it's like flock shooting at 100 yards hoping the magic BB will kill a duck.

There are just too many people applying for the current permits. Utah is managed for trophy elk. The size of antler is the draw and units issue permits by the age of the bulls harvested (and other things). Cow/spike tags are given to manage the herds.

It would be wise to save money and apply for other states if you just want to experience a good elk hunt.

Sheep are hard to draw everywhere, but Idaho has some decent draw odds.

Idaho, Wyoming, & Maine are probably your best bet at drawing moose.

Mountain Goats is probably a better idea to go to Canada. Utah probably has the easiest draw for these.

I had 3 points for the Wasatch LE muzzle loader elk tag this year, the wife had 3 points for her LE muzzle loader elk tag last season. She drew a LE elk tag for WY. this year and received a season fishing license along with her elk tag.

Pahvant archery elk (on my fourth try)[Wink]

Wasatch West archery deer.

A lot of hunting to cram into one month.

Good thing that I have enough vacation time to take the entire hunt off. [Smile]
