It has been since September 17th that I was able to fish due to both wrists needing surgery. During that time I had to learn to live vicariously through everyone else's reports. Now I am happy to say I will be living through my own reports again!
Caught a few pigs on the fly rod yesterday to break in the new wrists. The pain was worth it!!
Does anyone know what this little critter is? Saw him in the water, netted him, and took a few pics. It was about 2.75 inches long and 1 inch across.

Was wondering what happened to you !! What kind of surgery did you have ?? I have always been jealous of your Lunch break fishing trips. I especially enjoyed all the small streams you were fishing. Glad you are back, what did you do with your twin ??
I forgot the measuring tape this time. You always have to forget something to have a good day right?
But several of my fish went over 20 inches for sure![
] That one was one of the smaller ones but is the only pic that doesn't give too much background.

No wonder the fish were leaving it well alone!
They liked follwing the baby ducks swimming around though.[

One year before the sugery I blew both my ECU tendons in my hands while in martial arts after trying out a new punch.
My left wrist had a small tear still in the ECU tendon, ganglion cysts along the tendon sheath, and calcification of the joint space. My right wrist had ganglion cysts and calcification of the joint space. The calcification and cysts were formed due to long term inflamation.
They told me the recovery would be 6 to 8 weeks. In reality it is actually a 9 month or more recovery. My left still hurts a bit but by July I should be good to do anything, if not I have to go back and get cut again. It sure felt good to fight a fish again though.
There will be plenty of small stream reports as those fish will be easier for me to pull in.[:p] That and dunking worms and trolling sound easier than fly fishing all day too.
BTW - EvilTyeDye was there, he was the photographer.[cool]
P.S. Thanks, that reminds me I need to get a collapseable pole for my work truck so I can sneak a lunch cast or two!

I had a ganglion cyst on my left wrist that they had to remove before I left on my LDS mission. Apparently the surgery isn't a huge deal, but I'm with you--it was lots of months before I could do anything load-bearing with that wrist without some scary pain.

Was your operation "arthroscopic" or "open hand"?
My left was unfortunately open hand surgery because of the still torn ECU tendon, but my right was arthroscopic and has recovered much quicker than my left. Strange as the left wrist was done 1st and was done 3 weeks before the right wrist.

Welcome back! Nice looking tiger! I need to get out and explore the mountains.. Im always forgetting the tape or someone takes it and forgets to put it back and i dont find out til it comes time to use it. thing takes up too much room and i swear they are bad luck.

Glad to see you fishing again. Nice tiger.
(The ground in your beetle pic is kinda neat.)

Not sure honestly. I was asleep. I vaguely remember being rather indignant that they made me change into a hospital gown for a wrist surgery, but then I was out for the count

Well done mate. Cant imagine not being able to have a flick for that long. Would have been very satisfying to land a few.
Look fwd to reading more of your exploits.
I may be back over for a week or two in July/August and hope to get out of the office for a shot at a couple myself.
