Hello fellow BFT friends!

I am headed to Wahweap to do some fishing. I have done very little fishing at Lake Powell. I would like some suggestions.

Would shore fishing be effective this time of year. I do have a 14 ft aluminum boat if not. Is it a safe area for that small of a boat?

What species would I have the most success on, as well as some ideas for techniques.

Thanks,
Hope

Welcome to the site, sorry I can't be of much help on Wahweap, check out wayneswords for info if no one responds here. You can get by with a smaller boat but I would suggest saying close to shore because it can get ugly in a hurry. It depends on what you want to catch but yes you can shore fish this time of the year, if you can find a good area.

The fishing dock is down the boat ramp about half way, turn right and down the hill, nice big parking lot.
there's a golf cart that runs about every 15 minutes or so that goes to the restaurant, the kids driving are happy to give you and your gear a ride up and down that last hill.
they quit around 10 PM. I give them a buck or 2 tip.
Chovies seem to work best for me off the boat docks, nothing real big but 12 to 14 inchers are as good as a bucket full of white bass.
You can also catch catfish along the shore line in that same area.
Good luck
