Sunday 31 May, got to go fishing with my youngest son for the first time in over 6 years. Was a beautiful day, lots of sun and fun, not many fish. But a good day anyway. Had decided to head up to Bear and Benson for couple reasons. Thought maybe we could get into some Cats, and Coyotespinner left his jacket at my place the day of the BFT Willard Floatilla, thought we could meet up and get it back to him.
Launched at the Ballard Bridge and went up-river. The river was high and running strong. Fished up river 3 or 4 river bends with no luck. Lots of Carp splashing, but they were more interested in lovin than feedin. Decided to pull off the river and try the marina. Thought I would put us over the "Mudder" hole near the highway bridge and at least for sure let him catch a few for laughs. Unbelievable, but went 30-40 minutes with NOTHING. Then he got a nice hook and run with a young Golden Tarpon. Was perfect size to fillet out for bait, but old man hands couldn't hold on to it, and gone.

And not to be showed up by the youngest, I hooked up the first ones daddy....... and I know I took a photo of it, but for the life of me I can't find it.

I did catch one more to give Yote a bit of competition ..... for one of the smallest...... [sly]

The boy got a sunburn, Yote got his jacket back, we both caught "something" and best of all, had a great day with my son.

Nice job Forest things are a little tempormental on the river lately. One day it's hot the next it's dead. I got skunked last night. That's a first time in a couple months for me. All this high water is really changing things so I'm glad you found some fish in a tough time. So we're you with John when he caught his cat? Good somebody got him on the pond again. No, I didn't know John was on the water. Met him at the Sinclair station out on 89 when we were on our way home. He showed me the cats he had caught, said he was bank fishing.

Bank tangling seems to be easier for the quick trips, at least if you know a few good access points... Well glad you had a fun day... Catch ya next time... J
