I'm looking for recommendations on where to take a houseboat on flaming gorge.
On the one hand I'm drawn to the beauty of the canyon stretch but on the other hand I'm drawn to the record setting fishing of the Buckboard area.
I'm concerned about the wind and would like some shelter from that, but I'd also like the kids to be able to disembark and play on the beach (if there is one)
I've only been there once and don't even know where to look. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
We are leaving out of Lucerne.

There are a few bays just south of the pipe line on the west side that can get you out of the wind.or put in at anvil there are plenty of places to get out of the wind and camp.
