I decided to make the drive over to Carey to fish in Little Wood Reservoir this weekend. I hadn't visited that area for at least 10 years or more and was curious if it had changed much since the last time. All in all it turned out to be a good decision to go there because the weather was very nice and the fishing from the bank was good. I caught and released 10 Rainbows in about 4 hours of fishing from the bank near the dam. Most of the fish were caught casting Rooster tails. The majority of the fish were obviously recent planters but I did end up catching two that had the look of being either planted as fingerlings or resident fish. I also noticed large schools of minnows so it is definitely a healthy fishery. Every fish I caught was 10-12 inches and put up a good fight. I didn't take any pictures of the fish but the scenery was worthy. I've never made the effort to check out the river up above the reservoir but plan to make that happen in the future.
